Scouts from around Europe have travelled to South Africa to assess players from Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to various sources close to the club and some players, the scouts came to watch strikers Percy Tau and Khama Billiat.

Tau has attracted interest from teams in France and more recently from a club in Sweden, while Billiat is said to be destined for Azerbaijan’s Qarabag.

“The scouts from Sweden came to watch Tau for the second time this season, I think they are interested in him,” a source told Phakaaathi.

“It is not unusual for scouts from Europe to come to South Africa and watch Sundowns play, but the club in Sweden has sent its people to watch Tau twice this season. They have not made an offer to talk to the club, but they have an eye on him. I believe that a team from Belgium is also interested in Tau.”

Phakaaathi has learned that the Swedish team that could sign Tau is Djurgårdens IF from Stockholm.

“They [Djurgårdens] are also interested, Tau has done well for the club and country performing at the same level in each game. That also counts to clubs trying to sign him,” another source told Phakaaathi.
