A source at Orlando Pirates has revealed the reason why Benson Mhlongo was relieved of his duties as their MultiChoice Diski Challenge team coach this season.

According to a source, Mhlongo’s future at Pirates is very bright and they want him to learn as much as possible from head coach Micho Sredojevic and assistant Rhulani Mokoena in the senior team.

The aim is to see Mhlongo one day coaching the senior team because of his love for the club and passion for the game.

“He is one of the guys who will be in the club for a long time and his coaching career looks very bright. I see him as a future coach of the Pirates’ senior team, that’s why the management decided he has to learn from the two coaches and leave the MDC for someone else. But he is passionate about youth development and he keeps an eye on what is going on now and then,” said the source.
