Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral has clarified his comments about the standard of South African football.

This comes after the Turkish-born coach was quoted in the media saying that the state of SA football has dropped.

“Firstly I am not slamming SA football. I am saying that SA youth don’t get enough opportunities and education like the Europeans of the same age do. We coaches can change that,” Ertugral told Phakaaathi.

“Secondly, I have been in this country for long and I have always believed in SA players and developed them in any team that I have coached,” added the Ajax coach.

Meanwhile, Ertugral will be looking to lead Ajax to their first win in 2018 when they take on Platinum Stars at Cape Town Stadium tonight.

The game is set to start at 8pm.
