Fresh from pulling an upset over African champions Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu now turn their focus to Kaizer Chiefs.

The duo square off this Saturday in the Telkom Knockout last 16 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, which will be their first meeting since 2015.

Before sending shockwaves across the country when they defeated Masandawana 2-1 in their own backyard, Usuthu beat defending league champions Bidvest Wits, and are now hoping to add Amakhosi on their ‘slaughter’ list.

“It’s gonna be a tough game. Chiefs play good football,” said AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson.

“They play one way in the first half and they play another way in the second half. So we expect them to play two different games with us like we saw in the Soweto derby.

“We are happy that it is at Moses Mabhida, but we do know that Chiefs have a good following in Durban so we are going to do our homework and hopefully we can put up another good performance,” added the ex-Platinum Stars mentor.

AmaZulu will be in search of their first win over the Glamour Boys in over a decade, with the last triumph over the Naturena-based side tracing back to March 2007.
