Bidvest Wits winger Phakamani Mahlambi is available for selection when the Clever Boys take on Cape Town City in the second leg of the MTN8 Cup at Bidvest Stadium on Sunday, coach Gavin Hunt confirmed.

Mahlambi has just returned from Portugal where he underwent a three-week trial at Vitoria de Guimaraes,

“He features a lot. He is a player who has great ability, he needs to fulfill it. There is a lot of work that needs to be done, but he is okay. He is the same player who came to us two years ago,” said the Wits coach.

Despite not signing with the Portuguese team, Hunt adds that he wanted Mahlambi to learn how the Europeans.

“I sent him on the trial to get a feel of how the Europeans do things, the intensity is much more. They made him play right back, so there is a reason why they did that, why? Because he needs to learn how to defend which is something that is not in his style of play.”
