AmaZulu striker Siyabonga Nomvethe relishes the opportunity of increasing his tally of goals in the Absa Premiership following Usuthu’s return to top flight football.

Usuthu will be one of the 16 teams competing in the Absa Premiership next season after successfully purchasing Thanda Royal Zulu’s status.

The former Bafana Bafana striker has scored 119 goals in the top tier of South African football.

“I never thought I’d be playing in the PSL again. But another opportunity has come and I’m taking it. I will continue doing what I do best – scoring.”

“This is another chance for me to increase my goal tally. I still have what it takes, I will bring healthy competition to the league. Age is just a number, I’ve still got more seasons in me!”

Nomvethe managed to score 17 goals from 24 matches in the National First Division last season and he finished third on the top goalscorers list.

“It will be tough because it’s a different environment to the NFD. With hard work, it’s possible.”
