Thobani Mncwango remains hopeful of signing for Orlando Pirates at the end of the season and resuscitating his career.

Mncwango spent the second half of the Absa Premiership on the side lines following an alleged fight with Polokwane City over a contract extension.

Mncwango scored 13 goals for Rise and Shine last season and had netted three times this term.

He was set to join the Buccaneers in January but City refused to let him go.

“I hope they will allow me to leave at the end for the season. We haven’t spoken about it, but I hope that they will cede to my request. I know Pirates are still interested and at some point it looked like they (City) would allow me to join them in January but it didn’t happen,” Mncwango was quoted as saying by Isolezwe.

The striker who made a name for himself while with Baroka in the ABC Motsepe League also revealed that he has gone back to training with the senior team at Polokwane although he hasn’t played.

“It’s been a month and I have accepted my situation. I give everything at training but I know I will not be played. It is not a nice situation to be in for a player but I have told myself that I must let it play itself out,” he said.

Mncwango’s situation is said to be among the reasons former City coach, Luc Eymael decided to resign as he felt he was being dictated to when told not to use the striker.
