Phakaaathi has learnt that Dan Malesela is back at Chippa United.

Dan Malesela was placed on “special leave” after the club went on a losing streak of 10 league games.

Assistant coach Mbhuyiselo Sambu was appointed as the caretaker coach, but Chippa lost all three league games without Malesela.

Word is that club chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has recalled Malesela to try and rescue the Chilli Boys from relegation.

“He (Malesela) is back in charge of Chippa and the players looked happy to see him back. Who knows, maybe he can save Chippa from relegation and also reach the final of the Nedbank Cup,” a source close to the club told Phakaaathi.

Chippa is currently lying on position 15 on the log, with 24 points in 28 games.
