Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala said on Tuesday the players are fully behind coach Steve Komphela ahead of Wednesday’s match against Bloemfontein Celtic at the FNB Stadium.
“We have been working hard at training to correct a few things and we are eyeing the three points,” said Tshabalala.
Chiefs are on a disappointing run, but the midfielder is adamant that Komphela shouldn’t be blamed.
“We, as players, are fully behind the coach,” Tshabalala commented. “We are the ones that should turn things around and we plan to do that on Wednesday. The players must take responsibility.”
Amakhosi are presently in a seventh position on the Absa Premiership log with 17 points from 12 matches, while Wednesday’s visitors Siwelele are down in 12th position with 11 points from 11 games.
There are still three fixtures to be played before the break, starting with the clash against Celtic and followed by Polokwane City (at home, Sunday, December 18) and Golden Arrows (away, Wednesday, December 21).
“It’s important to collect the points in these matches,” Tshabalala says. “It’s not a good feeling to have dropped so many points, but we must just keep going.”
