Yeye is set to reunite with former Chiefs duo in striker Kingston Nkhatha and Coach Stuart Baxter at Matsatsantsa a Pitori. Without any doubt, the former Bafana Bafana player will leave a gap in the Chiefs midfield where he proved to be an influential player for Amakhosi over the past eight years.
However, Stanton Fredricks who himself was a key player during his stint at Chiefs, says Vila would be an ideal player to fill the gap left behind by Letsholonyane.
“He will play well and fit-in the number ten role – I know Vila on a personal level, I played with him at Wits. He is a great player and he is of Chiefs’ quality.
Vila has been flirting with a move to Naturena in recent seasons, and if ever there was a perfect moment for him to put pen to paper – it would be now.
Other players that have been rumoured to be on their way to Chiefs are AmaGlug-glug midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase and Keagan Buchanan who has been released by Bloemfontein Celtics shortly after joining from Ajax Cape Town.
With reports suggesting that Chiefs might release a host of players – the release of Buchanan form Celtics, following the release of Yeye to SuperSport – could prove to be part of the bigger picture.
