Mamelodi Sundowns clinched the Absa Premiership title with a comfortable 3-0 win over the University of Pretoria on Wednesday.

Pitso Mosimane’s side have an unassailable eight point lead at the top of the table over Bidvest Wits, with two games left to play.

Anthony Laffor grabbed a hat trick for the Brazilians against a poor Tuks side, who are in an almighty scrap to avoid relegation.

Sundowns were in front as early as the 3rd minute. A quickly taken free kick from Keagan Dolly caught the Tuks defence napping, Mzikayise Mashaba crossed and Laffor, making a rare start, just about steered the ball into net.

The Brazilians doubled their lead in the 20th minute as Khama Billiat embarrassed Willem Mwedihanga on the left wing and his cross found Laffor again, who couldn’t miss.

Tuks finally created a chance in the 31st minute, as Junior Sibande worked his way into the area, but his low cross was easily gathered by Dennis Onyango.

After the break, it was Sundowns who came forward again in force and Tiyani Mabunda was inches away from a goal with a long-range screamer.

Dolly then also fired narrowly wide, but Sundowns could not be stopped, and in the 59the minute, Laffor completed his hat trick, running on to Billiat’s pass and shooting low past Tristyn Coetzee.
