Komphela has come under heavy criticismas Chiefs have fallen away in the Absa Premiership title and found themselves knocked out of both the Nedbank Cup and Caf Champions League.
Amakhosi chairman Kaizer Motaung came out in support of Komphela this week, and Katsande followed suit.
“The chairman supporting the coach is a positive message to us,” said Katsande, who picked up the Absa Premiership Player of the Month award for January.
“We also support the coach, we have been to two cup finals unfortunately we didn’t win one … we just need to support him and try and help the coach win trophies with Kaizer Chiefs.”
“We understand the fans’ frustrations, they pay their hard earned money to come to the stadium. We need to take responsibility because of the results but these things happen, even overseas. When Mourinho was at Chelsea everyone was on his case about Chelsea’s performance.
“We all need to appeal to Chiefs supporters to try to stick with the coach and give him the love and support he deserves. I am sure he is capable of changing everything around.”
In the meantime, Katsande still feels Kaizer Chiefs can qualify for next year’s Champions League.
“I think we need to try and win each game we play and try to secure a position in the Champions League. It is always nice to participate in Africa,” he said.
