Sifiso Hlanti expressed his delight on Tuesday after his man-of-the-match performance on debut in South Africa’s 0-0 draw with Cameroon.

The Bidvest Wits left back came closest to scoring for Bafana Bafana with three free kicks, all of which were saved by Cameroon goalkeeper  Joseph Ondoa.

“I want to say thanks for the opportunity the coach gave me. This was my first time playing for the national team and it was a great moment to see myself on the field of play,” said Hlanti.

“I thought as a team we showed good character and came with a positive attitude but in football if luck is not on your side you can draw.”

“The coach … told me that when I get on the field of play I must not put myself under pressure, I must play the football I know … that helped me a lot.”
