Since the goal – which he scored from over 35-yards out – Kekana has been a subject of discussions almost everywhere fans meet and his goal has made headlines worldwide.
“Thanks everyone for the messages. (I) Feel honoured to make South Africans proud, and now we look forward to the next game,” wrote Kekana on his Twitter page.
Kekana is in the starting XI in Bafana’s team that will play the Indomitable Lions in a return leg in Durban’s Moses Mabhida on Tuesday night. The game is a must-win for Shakes Mashaba’s team and should they fail to secure a win, their chances of making it to the Afcon in Gabon in 2017 will be dashed.
