Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone was at the centre of another touchline controversy during Tuesday night’s Uefa Champions League semi-final clash against Bayern Munich.

TV pictures showed the Atletico manager aggressively hitting a man on the arm as the match went into injury time.

While at first it was assumed the man holding the board was a Uefa official, it transpired that it was actually a member of his own staff, Pedro Pablo Matesanz.

The incident comes less than a week after Simeone was given a three match touchline ban after an extra ball was thrown on to the pitch during Atlético’s 1-0 win against Malaga.
