Why Heric didn’t join Polokwane City

Vladislav Heric didn’t join Polokwane City as their new head coach because Rise and Shine and Royal Eagles failed to agree terms on compensation.

Phakaaathi has learnt that the reason why Vladislav Heric didn’t join Polokwane City as their new head coach was because Rise and Shine and Royal Eagles, whom Heric coaches in the NFD, failed to agree terms on compensation.

According to a source close to negotiations, Heric was keen to join City, but Eagles demanded compensation before they would release him from his contract.

“After lengthy negotiations between the two teams, no agreement was reached. City then decided to go for Julio Leal instead,” said the source.

City appointed former Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows coach Leal as their new coach on Thursday.

Leal, who is originally from Brazil, first came to South Africa back in 2007 to coach AmaZulu, but lasted only one season at Usuthu before moving to Swallows.

He won the 2009 Nedbank Cup with the Dube Birds, before joining Pirates in 2011, where he also won the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.
