Phakaaathi has learnt that Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns want to sign defender Siyanda Xulu.

Also keen to sign the former FC Rostov defender are Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City.

“There are many teams interested in him. Teams like Pirates and Sundowns have enquired about his services. They’re just waiting for him to get his clearance from Chiefs,” a source close to Xulu told Phakaaathi.

After enduring two seasons on the bench, the 25-year-old defender will finally be released by Amakhosi after being deemed surplus to requirements by coach Steve Komphela.

Xulu reportedly turned down offers from the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the US during the January transfer in order to continue fighting for his place in the Chiefs line-up.

It’s not clear at this stage if whether he will leave for the US or opt to play in the Absa Premiership for another team.
