Larsen – Abraw could still play for Celtic

Clinton Larsen remains hopeful that striker Camaldine Abraw will turn out for Bloemfontein Celtic this season.

Kaizer Chiefs have already unveiled Abraw as their player, after signing him from Free State Stars. Abraw, however, signed a pre-contract with Celtic last season, only for Stars to exercise an option to extend Abraw’s contract, after which they sold him on to Amakhosi.

The case is now going to the Premier Soccer League’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC), with a hearing set for August 4.

“We were hoping to prepare for the season with him, now we are waiting to see the outcome of the DC. There is every chance that, depending on the outcome of the case, he could still don a Celtic jersey this season,” said Larsen on Friday.

Celtic have already signed Geoffrey Massa, Helder Pelembe and Vuyisile Wana in a bid to beef up their strike force ahead of the new season.

“I am a big fan of the quality he possesses,” said Larsen on Pelembe.

“He is strong and decent in the air, that is a weakness of our strikers from before. He is a goal poacher, and I don’t think he got a fair deal at Pirates. He was underplayed.”
