Free State Stars are said to be negotiating with former coach Giovanni Solinas for a possible return to the club.

The Italian coach left Ea Lla Koto at the end of last season and was replaced by Denis Lavagne, but the Frenchman was fired after just three matches into the new season.

Stars cited poor results as the reason for his sacking, but now the club is said to be talking to Solinas, and the Italian could return to Stars next month.

“Yes, it’s true that Stars are talking to Solinas. He has agreed to come back. They’re now busy ironing some few details on his contract, and he should be back in South Africa before the end of October,” said a source close to Stars.

Solinas led Stars to 12th position last season before stepping down, with Stars citing personal reasons for his resignation.
