Belgian Pro League side, Sint-Truidense VV, have confirmed the signing of Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu on a season-long deal.
“STVV has just signed a contract with the South African international May Mahlangu,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
“This 26 -year-old central midfielder passed earlier today for medical tests and is now officially a Canary. Mahlangu arrived in Europe in 2008, when he joined Swedish side Helsingborg. He played in the Europa League for Helsingborg. He also played for Gothenburg and Turkish outfit Konyaspor.
“May chose to go to the sporting challenge at STVV over a number of lucrative deals abroad. A contract was signed for current season with an option.”
Sint-Truidense already have a South African connection with Bafana’s all-time leading goalscorer Benni McCarthy there as an assistant coach.
Mahlangu and McCarthy also share the same business manager in Rob Moore.
