Thanda not keen to sell Chiefs target

Phakaaathi Reporter

Kaizer Chiefs will have to forget aobut Thanda Royal Zulu striker Mhlengi Cele if what Phakaaathi sources have revealed is anything to go by. Amakhosi are said to have been chasing the 28-year-old striker for a while now, something which Cele admitted last week.

“Thanda have made it clear they will not be letting any player go, even at the end of the season. They really want promotion and Cele is on a two-year contract and a vital part of Roger’s (Sikhakhane) plans.

What they are actually thinking of right now is securing a few more players,” said a source. Another source revealed that Steve Komphela’s team were also looking at signing a defender from the National First Division league leaders.

“While Komphela and Bobby (Motaung) were in Durban to watch Cele, Ayabulela konqobe caught their attention. I believe they spoke to Thanda about him as well,” said the source.

The 20-year-old defender has been in great form for Amabhubesi and has previously played for the national Under-20 team.
