This was confirmed on Wednesday by Zungu’s agent Steve Kapeluschnik.
“We have spent a considerable amount of time and energy looking at and meeting with various clubs all over the world and after careful consideration Bongani has decided to join Guimaraes,” said Kapeluschnik.
“There were many teams keen to sign the player, but it was felt that he should join a league where most importantly, he will get game time and join a club that is happy to develop and sell players onto bigger leagues in Europe”
Zungu, meanwhile, has assured fans that he is “100 percent committed” to the Sundowns cause for the rest of the season.
“Guimaraes has been following my progress for quite some time and they really showed a huge desire to have me join the club,” said Zungu.
“When I met with the people from the club they made me feel like they really wanted me and this, together with the fact that they are well known for developing and selling players made it easy for me to join.
“I also want to make it clear that I am a Mamelodi Sundowns Football player until the end of the season and and that I am 100% committed to making sure that the team does well.”
