Following the departure of Malawi international Gabadinho Mhango on Tuesday, Mhango signed a pre-contract with Bidvest Wits forcing Celtic to release him immediately.

Mhango’s contract with Celtic was due to expire in June with the club eager to keeping the pacey forward on their books.

“We have done everything in our power to keep Mhango, but we were left with no option but to let him go with immediate effect. Our supporters must know we are vigorously searching for another prolific striker that will add value to the team. Yes, we still have depth, but will continue beefing up the squad to the best of our ability,” said Tshabalala.
