Van Heerden wanted by PSL big guns

Marc van Heerden could make a Premier Soccer League return in January if everything goes according the player’s wishes. Phakaaathi has learnt that van Heerden is looking to leave his current National First Division (NFD) team, AmaZulu.

“There are four PSL teams interested in his services, and have started negotiations with AmaZulu,” a source close to van Heerden said.

It has emerged though that a lot will depend on how much Usuthu want for the player as previous suitors lost their interest when they heard the price tag.

Van Heerden – who has a few Bafana Bafana caps under his belt – was initially supposed to leave AmaZulu before the current season started, and was rumoured to be on his way to SuperSport United, but the deal never materialised.

But a source revealed that Matsatsantsa a Pitori have renewed their interest in the left back, only this time they have some serious competition as Orlando Pirates and BidVest Wits have also reportedly made enquiries about the player’s availability.

The former University of Pretoria player still has two years remaining on his current deal at AmaZulu, and could find himself stuck at the Durban based team if the asking price is too high.

“Everything will be clear in the next few weeks, but talks are on-going, and he is wanted by Wits, Pirates and SuperSport,” added the source.
