Phakaaathi has learnt that ambitious National First Division side Royal Eagles have added former Kaizer Chiefs striker Katlego Mphela and ex Orlando Pirates midfielder Khethokwakhe Masuku to their squad.

According to a source at the club, both players have signed one-year deals.

Mphela was released by Chiefs at the end of last season after appearing infront of the club’s disciplinary committee for allegedly failing to attend some club events.

He was linked with a move to Polokwane City, but nothing came out of that reported interest from Kosta Papic’s side.

Masuku left Pirates at the end of last season following the expiry of his contract and was at one stage linked with a move to Ajax Cape Town, where he was set to reunite with his former coach Roger De Sa.

Both players will be now looking to use their experience to help Eagles to gain promotion to the Absa Premiership.
