Wits’ Klate eyes MTN8 title

Bidvest Wits midfielder Daine Klate says there is no pressure from the club management to win trophies this season but as players they want to compete and achieve.

Speaking during the media open day at Sturrock Park in Johannesburg on Wednesday morning, Klate said the Students have the squad to win trophies this season, including the MTN8.

“We want to compete strongly this season and achieve. We’ve got the team to do that, and winning the MTN8 is part of that vision.

“It’s important to focus on ourselves and not what other teams are doing. The likes of (Elias) Pelembe, myself and (Joachim) Lupeta are here to make change,” added Klate.

Wits will meet Ajax Cape Town in the first leg of the MTN8 semifinal at Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch on Saturday night.

The game starts at 8.15pm.
