United coach Gordon Igesund has expressed the desire to sign Khumalo as the defender has been training with his squad for the past three weeks.
“Obviously we would like to sign him but depending on the finances because he has been earning wages in Europe and whether we can compete with that or not, I don’t know, but Bongani is very happy and at the moment.”
The former Tottenham Hotspurs returned to Matsatsantsa to regain match fitness after a long injury spell.
Khumalo would like to go back to Europe, but that is easier said than done, as the former Colchester United defender is currently struggling with getting a work permit to play in Europe.
“It’s something that depends on him (Bongani playing for SuperSport United) and how he feels about the situation. He has indicated that he would like to go back but there might be issues with his work permit because it is difficult to get a work permit in England and other parts of Europe,” said Igesund.
