Khune will lead Bafana for the first time since he wore the armband against Mali at the CHAN finals in Cape Town in January 2014.

The goalkeeper, who also celebrates his 28th birthday on Saturday, will lead a makeshift Bafana side, hampered by a host of withdrawals ahead of the Mauritius game.

“I feel honoured to again lead the squad, and hope for a victory to make it a memorable birthday present,” said Khune.

Bloemfontein Celtic full back Wandisile Letlabika, Celtic’s on-loan midfielder Musa Nyatama and Chippa United midfielder William Twala, all late arrivals in the Bafana squad, will all make their debuts against Mauritius.

Orlando Pirates’ Thamsanqa Gabuza again gets a start up front, after scoring his first Bafana goal in Tuesday’s friendly against Angola.

Jomo Cosmos left back Pentjie Zulu and captain Thabang Monare were called up to the Bafana squad, but cannot feature in this game because they do not have passports, and were thus not able to be registered for the tournament.

Kick off for this first leg match is 3pm, while the 2nd leg will be in Mauritius in two weeks time. The winners will then face Angola or Swaziland in the final qualifiers for the 2016 CHAN finals, to be held in Rwanda early next year.
