Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe is disappointed that only one player from the defending Absa Premiership champions has recieved a Bafana Bafana call-up.

Midfielder Themba Zwane is the only player from the Downs squad that has been included in coach Shake Mashaba’s 26-man Bafana Bafana squad to play Sudan and Nigeria in 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month.

A win against Sudan at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, November 15 will guarantee Bafana a spot at the 2015 AFCON.

“I must be honest with you,” said Motsepe. “Two things; number one is that in terms of our humble contribution to South African football, we would like to have some players in the Bafana Bafana squad but with respect, the coach must decide, not us.

“I feel a bit disappointed when I don’t see a significant number of our players, but be careful because Shakes is someone I admired when I was a little boy and is someone I like immensely and all the players he chooses I support 100%.”

Motsepe added that the Brazilians still have a duty to produce players fit to feature in Mashaba’s plans.

“But my second point is this,” added Motsepe, “we have to bring some young players and we have to see those players on the assessment of the coach playing for Bafana Bafana.”

Sundowns host Clive Barker’s Mpumalanga Black Aces tonight at the Lucas Moripe Stadium (kick-off at 7.30pm) in a match coach Pitso Mosimane will want to use to start to bridge a 10-point gap held by log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Downs are currently fourth on the log with 15 points after nine league appearances.
