Manqele was earlier linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but it appears more PSL clubs have line up to snap him up.

Downs coach Pitso Mosimane said Manqele is currently 12kg overweight and that he has put him on a special weight-loss programme, but it is understood to have already asked for his clearance.

Manqele is now linked with a possible deal with PSL comeback kids Chippa United. United recently relocated from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and have gone through great lengths to strengthen the squad for next season.

United signed five players from the Buccaneers. Midfielders Manti Moholo, Joseph Molangoane, William Twala, defenders Siyabonga Zulu and Bheki Nzunga all joined Chippa during the transfer windows.

Manqele was left out of the squad that travelled to Zimbabwe for Downs’ pre-season camp and he is said to be mulling over several other offers.

Meanwhile, Mpumalanga Black Aces have announced the signing of Edwin Gyimah from SuperSport United.

“Edwin is an excellent player and a genuine marque signing and we are delighted to have him playing in the Aces colours this season,” Aces chairman Mario Morfou told the club’s website.
