Komphela steps down as Chiefs coach

Kaizer Chiefs have announced that head coach Steve Komphela has finally stepped down as the Amakhosi coach.

Chiefs confirmed Komphela’s resignation on their official Twitter account.

“Breaking News: Steve Komphela has resigned with immediate effect as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs! More news to follow,” read a tweet from Chiefs.

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung confirmed Komphela’s departure on the club’s website.

“We have to take responsibility and accept that we are faced with challenges. We cannot allow the situation to continue,” said Motaung. “We are worried about the safety of the players, the coach and supporters.

“We will make further announcements in the next few days.”
