According to sources close to Safa, Baxter is set to be announced as the new Bafana coach soon after agreeing terms with the national association.
Now SuperSport have moved swiftly to try and a replacement for him and have identified Krol as the suitable candidate.
“Baxter has indicated to the club that he is keen to join Bafana, so they have started the process of finding his replacement. Roger De Sa has also been mentioned as a possible candidate, but it looks more likely that Krol will be the man to replace Baxter,” said a source close to SuperSport.
Krol spent three seasons with Orlando Pirates before he was surprisingly axed after winning the treble in 2011.
The Dutch international has always maintained his desire to come back to coach in South Africa someday.
He has been linked to various clubs including Kaizer Chiefs, but nothing materialised from the reported interest.
