Malesela’s side beat Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 at the FNB Stadium on the last day of the 2015/16 season to finish sixth on the log, having collected 45 points in  30 league games.

The former Cape Town All Stars trainer started coaching the Port Elizabeth side in January.

“It’s the beginning of a small history. We need to open history at Chippa United and not fight for relegation, so this is the beginning of a chapter that we are opening up,” Malesela told the PSL website after the Chiefs match.
