Wits currently trail Sundowns by four points in the chase for the league title, with six games to go in the season.
“That (game against Sundowns) is the second last game, I think,” said Botes on Friday.
“I just pray that coming into that game we are equal with them and that whoever wins that game goes top of the log. That would make a great finale, it would be good for the neutral and good for the league. Who knows what will happen, we just have to keep plugging away, keep playing and fighting.”
Wits are at home to Free State Stars on Saturday evening while Sundowns play host to Jomo Cosmos.
“They have Jomo, it is not going to be easy, we will see,” added Botes, who scored the winner against Cosmos for Wits in midweek.
“It is hard to predict, for us as Wits we must focus on ourselves and the rest will take care of itself.”
As well as chasing the league, Wits are also in the running for the Nedbank Cup and face Free State Stars again in the quarterfinals on April 23 at Goble Park.
“We would like to do well in both, we would like to win something for the club,” added Botes.
“We need everyone (in the squad) … we are doing well, Wits is not always seen as one of the big teams, but we are doing well. We haven’t won anything or achieved anything yet, this is the final stretch and hopefully we can find that finishing touch and get something.”
