Sundowns were expected to dominated possession and they did, but the Brazilians found it difficult to break down the resilient Highlands defence.

Danger man Khama Billiat almost opened the scoring for the Brazilians in the eighth minute when he took a first time shot from a Keagan Dolly pass, but the ball went wide of goals. That proved to be the only clear cut chance on goals the Brazilians got in this half and they resorted in long range shots.

The Lions of the North had half chances to punish Sundowns on the counter, but poor decision making cost them a goal.

The game remained 0-0 at half-time.
