Steve Komphela believes whoever steps in for Lorenzo Gordinho against Orlando Pirates on Saturday will do a good job for Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs take on the Buccaneers at FNB Stadium in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup, but will have to do so without the suspended Gordinho, who has excelled in the Chiefs back four this season.

Daniel Cardoso and Morgan Gould are among those who could replace Gordinho and play alongside Eric Mathoho in the heart of the Chiefs back four.

“”Gordinho is out. In his absence it creates an opportunity for other defenders to step up,” Komphela told a press conference on Thursday.

“There’s a central pairing that’s been working throughout the week. They’ll do justice on Saturday.”

The Chiefs coach added that Amakhosi have also been working on their wayward finishing in front of goal in the lead up to this game.

“We’ve been missing chances upfront, we’ve analysed, and we’ve been working to rectify that for this weekend,” said Komphela.
