The Chilli Boys recorded their 10 win of the season, and sit snuggly in sixth position following the match after they secured back-to-back victories. Stars suffered their ninth defeat of the season, but are still holding on to their spot in the top eight.

Xola Mlambo netted a goal in the first half for Chippa, while Nkosinathi Mthiyane finished off a brilliant team move to guarantee the home side all three points.

Stars’ Nhlanhla Vilakazi had the first attempt on goal in the fourth minute of the match, but his effort at goal missed to the right of the target.

Chippa were awarded a free kick in the 15th minute after Justice Chabalala brought down Aristide Bance. Midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni then tried his luck from the dead-ball situation, but his effort sailed to the right of the post.

Just 10 minutes later, Bance had a shot of his own, but Stars goalkeeper Daouda Diakite was up to the task.

Chippa, though, took the lead in the lead in the 43rd minute when Mlambo grabbed a goal with a right-footed finish after an assist from Mthiyane.

Chippa’s hardman Buyani Sali has a great chance to double their lead in the 51st minute. But, after breaking straight through, he opted to shoot from the edge of the area and the attempt lacked accuracy as Stars were let off the hook.

But Chippa eventually doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Mthiyane scored one of the great team goals so far this season. He slotted home with his right foot after some great one-touch passing by the Chilli Boys. The final pass came from Joseph Molangoane.

Mthiyane then had another effort deflected for a corner in the 81st minute, as the Chilli Boys dished up some great football. And, in the end, they were deserved winners of the three points on the day.
