Free State Stars striker Moeketsi Sekola is set to make his debut when Ea Lla Koto face Maritzburg United tomorrow evening at Harry Gwala Stadium.

The PSL 2014/15 season Golden Boot winner, who scored 14 goals in the previous campaign, resumed training last week after being sidelined due to a ligament injury that kept him out since the start of the season.

Ea Lla Koto, under the mentorship of German coach Ernst Middendorp who was brought in following the sacking of Kinnah Phiri, come off a 3-0 victory over Chippa United, a result that saw the Bethlehem side claim 14th spot on the log.

Middendorp believes the players are slowly adjusting to his philosophy.

“The victory against Chippa was a morale booster but it showed us areas we need to work on,” he said.

“Like I said before it is still early for us to think that we have everything sorted. We need to win more games and get the team to perform in every game.”

The Team of Choice are without a permanent coach following the dismissal of former mentor Mandla Ncikazi after just four league games.  United are now at the bottom of the Absa Premiership standings after picking up one point from a possible 12.

Assistant coach Fadlu Davids has been appointed as caretaker while the club looks for Ncikazi’s replacement.  Former Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Clive “The Dog” Barker has been touted as a possible option after the former Bafana Bafana coach met with the club.

But Middendorp believes the coaching changes will have little impact on the team’s ability to win the contest.

“That is not something we are thinking about at the moment. The players will want to go out there and win the match and that is what we are worried about.

“Stars are a good side and it will be a tough match for both teams, but we want to keep the momentum and the only way we can do that is by winning games.”

Kickoff is at 7.30pm.
