Leroy was unveiled last week as the replacement of former Free State Stars and Zimbabwe national team coach Tom Saintfiet.

Saintfiet has signed a three-year deal with Togo and will be assisted by Sebastien Minier.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal star spoke of the coach’s appointment on his official Facebook page.

“With all the talent we have in Togo, our national team deserves a competent manager,” said Adebayor.

“I am glad to see that we are making progress, and naming Claude Le Roy as the new coach is a huge step forward.

“It was great meeting with him here in London. This is all I ever wanted for my country… positivity.”
