Madeleine McCann’ abduction suspect may be up for early release from prison

The court will make a ruling this coming Monday, determining if the 43-year-old suspect will be eligible for an early release.


The decision to call in the high court came after lower level courts in Kiel and Braunschweig failed to agree on which jurisdiction is responsible for taking the decision.

A 43-year-old man in prison in the northern city of Kiel is serving a sentence imposed for a drugs offence in 2011.

The sentence ends in 2021, but the man has served two-thirds of the time and has applied for early release.
