Woman’s quarrel over a man leads to stabbing death outside tavern

Jealousy may have been the reason for the death of a woman stabbed to death at a tavern in the Western Cape, Mosselbay Advertiser reports.

Two women who visited a tavern with their boyfriends quarrelled, apparently about a man, right outside the tavern.

In the altercation, the deceased apparently threw a bottle at the accused, after which she was stabbed in the chest with a knife. The accused then went back into the tavern and confessed to her friends what she had done.

The party went outside, where they found the woman with the stab wound.

The tavern owner immediately took the wounded woman to a local hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Several people witnessed the stabbing and the investigating officer, from the KwaNonqaba police, Sergeant Kekaza (044 606 5600), has asked that anyone with information contact him.

All information will be dealt with in strict confidence.

The accused will appear in court on Tuesday.
