Midrand coffee shop robbed

Two armed men threatened shoppers with firearms at Waterfall Corner.

Investigations are ongoing after a coffee shop at Waterfall Corner in Midrand was robbed.

Police say that two armed men threatened shoppers with firearms and made off with their belongings.

Midrand police spokesperson captain Lionel Chetty said some of the stolen items were a Rolex watch and a cellphone, which was later found at the Samrand off-ramp on N1 north. The cellphone is suspected to have had a tracking device, Midrand Reporter reported.

Chetty said the police have viewed the video footage, which will assist in the ongoing investigation.

No one was injured from the incident.

According to police, the owner of the coffee shop said two armed men went into the store while the third was waiting in the car, identified as a white Ford ST with no number plate.

The investigation is still ongoing, and no one has been arrested so far.
