WATCH: Woman threatened with axe over parking bay

A calm morning turned into a horror show when a woman was verbally attacked and threatened with an axe for allegedly parking in the wrong bay at her Tinley Manor home in KwaZulu-Natal.

Tasmyn van Niekerk said she heard her new neighbour, Donovan van Niekerk, banging on her bedroom window while shouting and swearing at about 6am on Wednesday, North Coast Courier reported.

“He was angry because I parked him in when I came home the night before.

“I was told two days ago that new tenants are moving in next door and that I should park my car somewhere else, because they will be taking my bay.

“I said that I have been using this parking bay for three months and that it is right in front of my door and looks into my bedroom.

“I also pointed out that there are four other parking bays available,” said Tasmyn, who is a single mother and lives in the house with her four-year-old daughter, Rosslyne.

The situation escalated when the landlords, Mr and Mrs Makan, arrived and started swearing and shouting, while Makan was holding an axe, hacking at the security gate and at one of Tasmyn’s pot plants.

“I am a tough cookie, but when I saw the axe, I started to really panic. I called my dad and started videoing what was happening for my own protection.”

“Donovan jumped into his bakkie and nearly drove over my mom [Melissa-Leigh Lee] who was walking down the driveway.”

The video has gone viral on Facebook, and Tasmyn said she has opened various cases at the police station.

“I have had a long chat with Donovan, and he apologised, but I have not heard anything from my landlords.”

The landlords have not been available for comment.
