Comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah hilariously recounted his visit to parliament with his friends Sizwe Dhlomo and Khaya Dlanga early this month. Speaking between scenes of The Daily Show, Trevor told the audience that a friend called and told him President Cyril Ramaphosa wanted to meet him, something that seemed to have shocked him.
“What did I do?” he asked the friend.
He said he then decided to call his friends Dlanga and Dhlomo to accompany him, though he forgot to tell them they were going to meet the president, hence they both rocked up in a hoodie and T-shirt.
He said: “We met the president and he was very cool. My friend apologised, he was like ‘I’m so sorry, Mr President, I did not know I was meeting a president today, that why I’m dressed like this’. And then the president was cool, he’s like ‘No, I didn’t know I was meeting you guys, that’s why I’m dressed like this. And then just out of nowhere, the president was like ‘Come with me to parliament, I want to introduce you’. He introduced me, it was one of the most surreal moments because it’s one of those things you take for granted.”
