Trying to cross a swollen river is a tricky affair at the best of times, and after a night of rain like the Dolphin Coast experienced last night, it verges on suicidal, North Coast Courier reports.
This was the lesson learnt this morning by a man who tried to cross a low-level bridge over the Tongaat River, only to find himself in deep water – literally.

“The man in the car was lucky to escape with his life,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
IPSS Medical Rescue and Bigshow towing are at the river and will be assisting with the recovery of the vehicle.
