A man was shot and killed earlier this afternoon after a shooting on Bowling Avenue in Sandton, Johannesburg, according to ER24, Sandton Chronicle reports.
It is believed that paramedics, along with other services, arrived at about 12.15pm to find the vehicle on the side of the road.
Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, said: “Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a man, believed to be 37 years old, dead at the scene lying in the front seat of his vehicle. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done and he was declared dead on the scene.”

Meiring stated that it was alleged an unknown number of gunmen opened fire on the driver and vehicle, causing him to crash into the pavement.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible as traffic is heavily backed up. Bowling Avenue has been cordoned off from the BP Petrol station, moving in the direction of Marlboro and Alexandra.
It is believed the gunmen fled in the direction of Marlboro in a white Audi. Nothing was apparently stolen from the victim and his vehicle.
Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, provincial spokesperson for police, said: “The victim was coming from the bank when he was attacked by four suspects and it is unclear at this time if any money was stolen from the scene; it is forming part of the investigation that is currently under way,” said Dlamini.
The victim’s next of kin is on scene and police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
