Grammy-winning R&B singer James Ingram has passed away at age 66 after a long battle with brain cancer.
On Tuesday, his death was announced by close friend and creative partner, actress Debbie Allen, on Twitter.
Ingram topped the charts with hits Baby, Come to Me and I Don’t Have a Heart, but is probably best known for Somewhere Out There, from the film An American Tail – a duet with Linda Ronstadt that peaked at number 2 on the US charts.
He was a two-time Grammy winner – having been nominated 14 times – as well as a two-time Academy Awards nominee for Best Original Song.
Tributes immediately began pouring in for the late star following the news of his death.
