Pappas was accused of nepotism after the municipality gave R100 000 to a community tourism organisation that, in 2002, was chaired by his ex-fiancé.

Chris Pappas, the Mayor of uMngeni Municipality and KwaZulu-Natal’s premier candidate for the Democratic Alliance party, has been cleared of allegations levelled against him last year.
