Two suspects are expected to appear in court after they were arrested for hijacking a vehicle on Montague Street in Newcastle CBD, KwaZulu-Natal.

Newcastle police spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam said the driver of the vehicle was waiting for a truck to pass when he was accosted by two men who threatened him with a knife on Saturday, Newcastle Advertiser reported.

“The men took the victim to an open veld and robbed him of his possessions before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.”

The perpetrators, 20 and 26 years old respectively, are expected to appear in court soon.
