Tanzania has lifted a ban on imports of agricultural produce from Malawi and South Africa, days after imposing it in retaliation for similar measures imposed by the two southern African nations.
Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority (TPHPA) director-general Joseph Ndunguru said that Tanzania was lifting the ban effective immediately to allow for “a diplomatic ministerial discussion”.

At least six people were hospitalised and seven others were left homeless after a mudslide destroyed two homes in P Section on Friday.
One person was believed to have been killed in the incident but officials were later told the deceased woman had died of causes unrelated to the mudslide.

The Vaal Dam has reached a concerning 120.69% capacity as of Saturday, according to the latest Vaal Dam and Vaal Barrage Hydrological Information.
This represents an increase of 2.21% since Friday, when the department of water and sanitation (DWS) opened the 10th sluice gate as the dam water levels reached a critical rate of 118.48%.
